China 2012

Dates of Travel:  June 5, 2012 to June 26, 2012    

You will have a 10 day home stay in Dalian, visit Xi’an and also Beijing and Shanghai

Participating exchange students will leave Houston on June 5, 2012 and wing their way eastward arriving in China on June 6th and departing on June 26th.  The students will fly first to Shanghai and spend three days.  On their third day in China they will fly to Dalian, Houston’s sister city and home of our sister school Dalian 24 High School. The students will begin their home stays as soon as they are greeted by their host families at the airport, and for the next ten days they will be immersed into the Chinese culture.  After staying in Dalian, students will then travel to Xian to see the Terra Cotta Warriors, followed by a visit to Beijing where they will see the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and other interesting sights.  The all inclusive cost is $2995.00 and can be paid in several payments or all at once.  A non-refundable deposit of $350.00 is due by December 15th to save your space.  Please see the payment schedule below.  All payments are final and non-refundable.  The final payment is due before May 18th. Cash, money order, or check made payable to Lamar High School are accepted, or you may pay with credit card at http://www.seatyourself.biz/lamarhs.  Go to December 15th on the calendar to pay in full or to make the first payment.  Students eligible to participate must currently be a Lamar student or an incoming student committed to attending Lamar in the fall of 2012.  All students must have good grades, good conduct and a current passport. 

 

Price includes:

  • All air transportation as specified
  • Hotels as specified, double or triple occupancy
  • Travel accidental medical insurance in China
  • Tours, sightseeing and meals as in the itinerary
  • English speaking guides

  • Passport: must have a current passport, provide to Ms. Gaido prior to or with first payment.

 

Method of payment : Payments should be made to Mr. Brad Weber in the Lamar Business Office.  This office is inside the main office on the 2nd floor in the North building.

Jun 5 Houston (IAH) to Shanghai

 

Jun 6-8  Shanghai

Students and chaperones will stay at the Minya Hotel in Shanghai.

 

Jun 9-19 Dalian

Students: in home stay with Dalian students.

Teachers: Furama Hotel.

 

Jun 19 Dalian/Xian ( B,L, D)

Flight to Xian

Upon arrival, meet the local guide and transfer to the Titan Times Hotel (teachers and students).  

Afternoon: Ancient City Wall and Bell Tower.

 

 

Jun 20 Xian (B, L, D)

 

Morning: Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum.

Evening: Tang Dynasty dinner show.

 

Jun 21 Xian/Beijing (B, L, D)

Flight to Beijing

Upon arrival, meet the local guide and transfer to Jade Palace Hotel (teachers and students).

Afternoon:  Tiananmen Square and Temple of Heaven.

Evening: Acrobatic show.

 

Jun 23 Beijing (B, L, D)

Forbidden City.

Hutong and tea ceremony.

Evening: Peking Roast Duck dinner.

 

Jun 24 Beijing (B, L, D)

Morning: Great Wall.

After lunch: Sacred Way.

Evening: Kung Fu Show.
